Co-production

Positive Response Training is committed to the principle of undertaking co-production in safe, ethical and rewarding ways with people with lived experience who have been subjected to restraint and restrictive practice in the past.

In July 2024 we worked on an exciting initiative with Brandon Trust. We asked members of their Adventurers group to review the content of our PBMpro training.  Brandon Trust currently uses PBMpro throughout all its services.

Three people from Adventurers took part in the review: Ben, Tim and Claire.  One person has lived experience of physical intervention and restraint.  All three had lived in services where they had experienced restrictive practices. The three experts by experience were fully briefed prior to the review, with support in place for them after the review.

We presented an introduction to the major themes and principles of PBMpro and the participants were able to sample some breakaway techniques and restrictive holds. The experience was very useful for the group as well as us.  One of the comments from a participant included:

“We all think this feels good – it keeps everyone safe without feeling like it’s too much.”
